The Background

Capital Communications is a mobile and fixed line telecommunications provider for small to medium-sized businesses throughout South Wales.

Originally delivering solely mobile solutions, the company recognised that customers were more regularly enquiring about integrated communications that included fixed lines.

A large number of fixed line suppliers were also taking a joined-up approach to business telecommunications and IT, moving toward Capital Communications’ existing customer base.

The Challenge

As well as responding to competitor activity, Capital Communications saw an opportunity for growth and expansion by meeting the changing needs of its existing customer base as an in-house
service, rather than recommending affiliates that may be offering a competing mobile service.

Originating from a much larger IT company, Capital Communications formed independently in 2009, while still retaining close connections with its roots.

This meant that upscaling in order to offer fixed lines was not a challenge, while finding a suitable partner that was not already a direct competitor was a bigger issue.

The company also needed to find a partner that could understand and cater for the unique connectivity challenges presented to businesses in Wales, where stability of service could be a concern.
