Exchange Partners

Microsoft platform enables remote working

and connects multiple sites

Implementing a telecommunications solution that could accommodate remote working and multiple sites presented a set of technological challenges, such as ease of deployment and low maintenance, along with cost-effectiveness. Setting up with Microsoft Office 365 was easy and we had it working within 20 minutes – it really was that easy to deploy.

David Edney, Project Manager at Exchange Partners

The Background

Exchange Partners is a management consultancy business. Working on a project to set up a new renewable energy company from the foundations of an existing organisation that had gone into liquidation, Exchange Partners identified a requirement to upgrade its existing server solution. The new solution would needed to accommodate remote working and multiple sites, while also providing the sustainability to support the business into trading overseas.

The Challenge

Recognising an opportunity to build a new business using an existing customer base, Exchange Partners needed to act quickly to ensure continuity of service and a streamlined working approach for their new teams.

As well as requiring a cost-effective server solution that could be quickly and easily deployed, Exchange Partners was also in the process of building up its teams before its two
company offices – located in London and Cambridge – were ready to accommodate. So the business needed an agile solution that offered reliability and easy remote working, including communications and file sharing capabilities, as well as the delivery of effortless software licensing compliance.

The Solution

Two options were available to the team at Exchange Partners. Either upgrade the existing Microsoft Exchange 2007 server or migrate to an alternative solution in Microsoft Office 365. The benefits of the latter were immediately apparent, especially for a start-up business.

The software as a service (SaaS) solution offered excellent value for money for Exchange Partners. As well as providing software licensing for up to five devices per user, MicrosoftOffice 365 gives access to the latest software versions and mitigates the risk of licensing non-compliance. Furthermore, as no server is required, the need for capital expenditure is non-existent.

Office 365 further benefited the business by providing the flexibility needed for implementation at multiple sites and for remote workers, as well as the scope required for international working, with easy email set up and collaboration tools using Sharepoint and Skype for Business, among other features.

Furthermore, with a team of 25 and with just one IT director, maintenance was a big consideration and the support offered by Microsoft Office 365 provided an element of risk management that could not be matched.

The Result

Microsoft Office 365 has given Exchange Partners an agile platform upon which its new business venture can be built and grown with confidence. Easy to deploy, the solution is scalable in line with the business, delivering cost and time efficiencies both now and in the future.
